Calendar Changes and Bread Communion Service Singing Opportunity

Happy November!

First, a message from Karen Gahagan, our Music Director, inviting our older children and youth to sing with the choir on 11/22!  Please note that this is an RSVP-necessary activity with mandatory rehearsals.

***Inviting all singers 11 years old and older to sing at the Sunday, November 22 Intergenerational Service. We're singing a beautiful piece, "Thanksgiving Song", by Mary Chapin Carpenter. There are two rehearsals for this service and attendance at both rehearsals is required to sing.

Monday, November 16 at 7:00 - 7:45 pm

Sunday, November 22 - 9:00 am - this is a rehearsal with everyone
If you'd like to hear the song, click here.

Please let Karen know if you are interested in participating by the morning of November 16 so music will be available. Karen can be reached at MusicDir@uumarblehead.org***

We have also made a few changes in the calendar.  See below for details of the next three Sundays.

  • This Sunday 11/15 is a Chapel Sunday, however, unlike previous Chapel Sundays, all children and youth will start the morning in the sanctuary and will leave after the Time for All Ages.  The rest of the morning the youth and children will start a collaborative project with me.
  • 11/22 is Bread Communion, an Intergenerational Sunday.  We will be kicking off the Guest At Your Table program at this service.
  • On 11/29 we will have a Special Sunday.  Children and Youth will remain in service through Joys and Concerns.  After this time, any children or youth in attendance will have the option to remain in service (pew packs will be provided) or leave for a brief activity with me during the sermon.

I am also still looking for a Chapel Assistant for 11/15, please contact me if you are available!  If you have any questions, please send me an email.

See You Sunday!

Halloween Fun and Ferry Beach

We are already one month into our new church year and it has been so great to see returning families and new families in our congregation.  We have two special events this month:

Ferry Beach weekend is October 23-25.  If you've been, you know what a lovely, spirit-filled relaxing weekend this is, filled with crunchy leaves under foot, majestic waves, roaring fires, and laughter and smiles.  If you haven't gone before, please consider attending this year.  To sign up and for more information, talk to Chuck Shefreen.  In addition to the annual relaxing and recharging at Ferry Beach as you can laze on the porch gazing at the waves....returning this year is the Ferry Beach Annual Scavenger Hunt!  And this year, the scavenger hunt will be run by two of our youth!

On Wednesday evening 10/28 at 6:00 Rev. Wendy and I invite everyone to Pumpkin Carving Fun Night.  We'll carve pumpkins, make roasted pumpkin seeds, and have a spirited good time.  We will also distribute the materials for our trick-or-treat social action activity.  This year, our children and youth who trick-or-treat will have the opportunity to share information about fair trade and sustainable products, like chocolate, with the adults at the homes they normally trick-or-treat at.  Through handing out fair trade chocolate samples with info cards, our children and youth can live UU values and enjoy the Halloween holiday as well.  If you would like more information, or want to particpiate but cannot attend on 10/28, please email me!

Sunday Programming for this month:
10/11 Chapel
10/18 Classroom Sunday
10/25 Ferry Beach- no RE Programming in Marblehead

See you on Sunday!

Registration and Classroom Information

After a lively Ingathering Sunday on the 13th, followed by last Sunday's Chalice Cupcake Chapel, we have celebrated the chalice, learned of its origins, and shared why we light the chalice in our own lives today.  My favorite this past Sunday was lighting the chalice for a Patriots win!

Classroom Sundays start this Sunday, the 27th.  On Classroom Sundays all children start the morning at 10:30 with their families in the Sanctuary.  After the choir's Anthem (after Time for All Ages), all children and youth proceed to Holyoke for community snack, and then onto their classrooms.  Classes end at 11:45.  Please wait for the classes to be released, and wait for your child/youth in the Holyoke room.  At 11:45, parents resume responsibility for their children/youth.

If you wish for your child to participate in programming this year, you must submit registration paperwork.  If you need more forms, you can find them here on the church's website.  Simply download, print, fill them out, and bring with you on Sunday.  Each family needs one Registration and Volunteer Commitment form, and each child/youth needs their own Release form and their own Health form.  If you have questions or problems downloading, please email me!

Hope to see you on Sunday!
